Cold Sore

Cold Sores are painful blister(s) around the lips or inside the mouth. You may know them as “fever blisters”. They are caused by a virus, herpes simplex 1. There are two types of herpes virus, type 1 and 2. HSV type 2 typically causes lesions on the penis or vagina and is not associated with cold sores. Cold sores can be painful and unsightly prompting patients to seek treatment.
